Bulkhead unions convert plain end barrel outlets into a threaded connection. This fitting is constructed of plastic and designed to work for potable and non-potable water applications. This union disassembles into two pieces to form a ‘clamp’ on both sides of the barrel, with the rubber o-ring providing a water-tight seal when tightened.

Exactly what I needed to complete a plumbing connection that I knew would require servicing. Couldn’t remember the exact name for the connector, but the sales associated to whom I described the part knew exactly where I’d find it in the plumbing area of the store. Perfect for my needs.

Works just as you would expect perfectly I wish they had more sizes available

We used these in the construction of 20 or more rain barrels. Highly recommend.

The inside diameter for this item is NOT 3/4 inch as it claims. I was unable to use this item because it was not designed as the description indicated.

I built a rain barrel to catch some of the roof runoff and drilled a hole near the bottom and used this waterproof connector to attach a faucet and a garden hose.
In a few weeks I will open the faucet and with the attached hose let gravity water my plants.
No other connector would be this easy to install.

It works well for what we need, and it doesn’t leak. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5-star rating is because it’s so expensive compared to other fittings.

Leave rubber gasket on body, from INSIDE container, push body/gasket through.Add plastic washer, nut. Don’t over tighten. Many videos are wrong.

I use Brute trash cans to make water collection barrels. They are cheaper than rain barrels and work very well. Just add a faucet and a “B&K 3/4-in Threaded Female Adapter Union Fitting”. Have been using this setup for several years and the Brute cans are still going strong.

Do the people at even look at the parts that they sell? The description of this product is so substandard that i have doubts…. Perhaps someone should tell them that the photos of their fitting reflect that there is a female thread on the part.

You will need a hole saw kit and extra rubber to make another washer as it only comes with 1 rubber 1 and a plastic 1 and wanted rubber one outside barrels also . I used a metal oil wrench to hold the inside part and sprayed it with a little cooking oil to make it easier to screw on the inside band . I used the hole saw piece to cut the hole in the rubber and left it square and used the spigot on the outside to help screw it on . Took me all of 20 minutes to do it by myself and i am a 70 year old woman . Makje sure you put it on the right way and hint take a piece of window sscreen and cover the top of your rainbarrel if you are leaving the top off keeps bugs and unwanted stuff out . i also used a screw on pvc elbow piece to make sure i get all the waterout of the botom of the barrel .. free water and i can add fertilizer and put the hose on to water plants in my veggie garden . . I have to do 4 more . . I used to use a pond pump but this is way easier . USE a oil wrench to do this it is so much easier and spray cookig oil on threads of adapter

Took me less than 20 minutes this time . I got the 3/4 inch one and first 1 was the 1/2 inch one . I used a hole saw because it only has 1 plastic one and 1 rubber one and i wanted rubber inside and out side the tank . The plastic one cracks to easy . It fit perfectly and used my oil wrench to tighten the outside nut and it was fast and much easier . I did not have a plumbing wrench so good oil wrench worked great. I now have 4 rainbarrels done I did not put a gutter on the the shed , I just leave the water run out the end of the gutter into the barrel . Not one leak after heavy rain . I still have to put the window screen on the top of the barrel to keep unwanted stuff from getting in

Like other reviewers, I found that this fitting is easy to install and makes a water-tight connection. The big “nut” on this fitting has reverse threads which makes it great for installing a faucet. Note that the photo showing the 1/2″ threads is wrong. The threads shown are for the big nut that secures the fitting and are more like 1-1/2″. The 1/2″ threads are female on both sides of the fitting, so you need a 1/2″ male (outside) threaded faucet.

I wish it was a bit more low profile, but their really worked great for making a flood and drain system using a plastic storage tote for aquaponics

Built my rain barrels with these. They work well so far. Were easy to install. The inside fitting is a little bulky so it will not drain the barrel 100%. But that is typical for retrofitting a barrel.

I use this on an irrigation system. There are no leaks spigot fit nice and tight well worth the price.

Works Great on 5 Gallon Buckets and used it to put a spigot on rain bucket that I could attach a garden hose to.

Do not buy this if you’re looking to install in a 55 gal plastic barrel with a closed top and two threaded openings. Those threaded openings are ~2.25″, while this product is ~2.75″ wide. So it will not fit. If you’re using it for another purpose, it seems like a nice fitting.

used for the over flow tube on some rain barrels that i did for my wife. seals great and allows the adapter to fit the over flow tube to fit firmly and leak free.

Leave it to to not include the most critical detail about a bulkhead fitting in the description. The hole size needed for this unit is 1 3/8 inches (minimum) up to 1.5 inches.
Perhaps needs to get people who actually do things to write the descriptions for things they sell. I shouldn’t have to make the 20 mile trek to the store to measure things.

The threads threaded, the seal sealed, and it has yet to fail. Of course it has only been in service a week, so I don’t know how well it will do in, say, 50 years. But for now its just great!

used for rain barrels for my wife. The gasket seals great and eliminates the need for silicone . definitely a great product
