This Imperial Duct Insulation Sleeve works as an energy-efficient insulation blanket suitable for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Specifically designed to insulate rigid or semi-rigid round ducts, it is an excellent method for reducing heat or cool loss and condensation build-up. The sleeve is made of a thick fiberglass insulation blanket enclosed in a strong, fiberglass-reinforced silver metalized outer jacket. This duct wrap is constructed of an inner layer of fiberglass, made from a flat sheet, and an outer layer of aluminized plastic. The plastic tears easily. It’s not clear how it’s supposed to be used. The inner diameter is much larger than 6″, so if you slip the duct through the insulation, it hangs down in a baggy mess. Also, it would be hard to have to slip the insulation over each length of duct before installing the duct. If instead you slit the plastic (being careful to align the slit with the existing edge of the fiberglass) in order to wrap the duct more tightly after insulation, then it all comes apart. I returned the unopened packages I bought.

Poor quality control out of the factory. Marginally cheaper than the other big box store, but none of the Lowe’s have enough, so I have to drive around to collect them.
