SharkBite Max push-to-connect fittings are the fastest way to transition from existing polybutylene pipe to PEX, copper, CPVC, or PE-RT pipe. A newly designed stainless steel collet retainer delivers additional strength and durability and provides a 250 psi pressure rating. SharkBite Max fittings don’t require a PEX tube liner and a re-engineered body allows you to insert the pipe using less force and greater ease. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue, or special tools required. After inserting the pipe, stainless steel teeth bite down and grip the pipe tightly while a specially formulated O-ring compresses around the pipe to create a watertight seal. The fitting can be rotated after installation for quick adjustments, and removing the fitting is just as fast with a disconnect tool, allowing fittings and valves to be changed or reused. (SharkBite push-to-connect fittings are the fastest when compared to other conventual plumbing methods. All other comparisons relate to first generation SharkBite push-to-connect products.)

Throughout, though I thought I thoroughly cleaned and lubricated (silicone grease) the retention ring, the fitting opening, and the copper pipe stub, the slip end of this 3/4″ ball valve stuck in an extremely difficult location in the drop down ceiling of our 9 story condominium building condo. It would not move on or off its 1/4 on position. I had to work through a 14″x14″ access panel on a ladder. I pre-marked the pipe and fitting, which helped immensely. The sharkbite tongs were clumsy, loose-fitting, and very difficult to use. The tongs provided insufficient leverage on the release rings. They tied up one hand, when I needed both to grip the pipe AND valve. So, I gave up removing the valve. I put other pen marks on the pipe so that I could see progress. Luckily, after an hour, twisting and pushing the pipe and fitting in all directions, I finally creeped the fitting onto the stub to my spec mark. Luckily I did NOT have to use the slip tee’s extra length. Unluckily, I will have a huge problem if I ever have to remove the slip valve. Tools that would have allowed me to safely grip the pipe and fitting would have helped immensely. Earlier, I had no problem mounting a 3/4″ sharkbite slip tee separated from the valve by a 4″ piece of copper pipe. I had pre-assembled the tee, valve, and connecting pipe. Also luckily, the tee’s slip end slipped, as needed, going on and back off, to allow the valve to be installed onto its pipe, without using the valve’s extra slip length. There WAS plenty of pipe horizontal and vertical slack, so I did NOT need to use release-ring tongs on the tee, while I struggled with installing the valve’s slip end of the total assembly. FLUKE? DEFECT? INSTALLER ERROR? The day BEFORE, I successfully installed the same valve/tee/pipe “assembly” on the parallel 1/4″ hot water line through the same access panel.

This is old product and should not be sold. PB piping was removed from the market due to failures, so this and all PB fittings are obsolete.

The SharkBite fitting no matter the size is always a great way to save yourself extra work! Super helpful every single time!

Bought this because they ran out of the regular 3/4 tee. Didn’t know what a slip end was and ended up pushing the pipe in too far only to discover very low water pressure. I eventually figured it out. No leaks

This slip tee made a recent filter/softener installation really easy. I installed a water filter/softener combo and used this tee to cut in a bypass of Sharkbike tees and ball valves on our incoming water line.

As A licensed irrigator and Texas these save hours of time and Lowe’s always has them in stock only Lowe’s! I don’t shop anywhere else in there patriotic enough to offer the military discount!
Highly recommend!!!

Easy to connect but very, very difficult to remove tube.
Even using the optional removal tool, i prefer the crimp type or plastic version of shark bite.

if you’re a contractor or a homeowner that’s looking for the right part for a quick fix, this is it. This part gives you room for “play” as we call it. Your pipes that have to be repaired don’t have to be cut exact, the “slip” allows the coupling to move back and forth. Great idea!
